Who is highest-paid catcher in MLB? J.T. Realmuto leads list of top 10 salaries in 2024

J.T. Realmuto has earned the distinction of being one of the best catchers in baseball this decade – both offensively and behind the dish.

And in 2021, the Philadelphia Phillies rewarded Realmuto with a five-year, $115.5 million deal – the third richest in history for a backstop.

Since joining the Phillies in 2019, he's become one of the most reliable catchers in the big leagues, defying today's load management mandates. He's caught 133 games − tied for fifth-most since 2016 and the only catcher posting multiple seasons with that distinction − in three of the past four full seasons.

Realmuto, whose annual average salary is $23.1 million, has two more years remaining on his contract before becoming a free agent.
