Highest-Paid MLB Players in 2024: Top 20 Biggest Baseball Salaries

Who is the MLB's Highest-Paid Player in 2024 by avg annual salary, baseball biggest contract values/salaries

The World Series ended a while ago, but things in Major League Baseball have heated up.

Two-way star Shohei Ohtani on Saturday announced he decided to join the Dodgers after a lengthy process, simply crossing towns instead of borders, which would've been the case had he picked the Toronto Blue Jays.

Of course, in doing so the Dodgers had to pay quite the pretty penny to afford Ohtani. Ohtani's reported contract is a stunning 10-year, $700 million deal that will see the star make $70 million a year. It's an unprecedented figure, but elites don't come cheap.

MLB player contracts have been steadily increasing for decades, and the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, which raised luxury tax thresholds last offseason, shows no signs of abating.

Following Ohtani's blockbuster contract, let's look at the highest-paid MLB players entering the 2024 season, with more shuffling likely to occur:

Who are the highest-paid MLB players Right Now entering in 2024 Season?

Max-Scherzer was lured from Hollywood to New York in 2022 by a record-breaking three-year, $130 million contract, and one of his old teammates ended up joining him this postseason.

In December, Justin-Verlander agreed to a two-year, $86,666,666 contract with the New York Mets, tying Scherzer for the highest average annual salary in MLB history.

Scherzer, whose previous contract was worth an average of $30 million per year, surpassed Yankees ace Gerrit Cole's previous record of $36 million with the new $43,333,333 figure.

Verlander, the 2022 AL Cy Young Award winner, is now tied for first place on the list, earning the same annual salary as Scherzer.

Baseball's third and final $40 million-a-year player also lives in New York. Judge agreed to a nine-year, $360 million contract extension with the Yankees.
