FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships Set for Adelaide 2025.
For the first time in history, the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships will be staged in the southern hemisphere, with Adelaide, South Australia, named as the exclusive host city.
The event will run from Friday 14 to Sunday 23 November 2025, transforming Adelaide’s northern riverbank into a festival of world-class sport and entertainment across Pinky Flat, The Drive and Torrens Parade Ground.
Following the Paris Olympic Games—where beach volleyball will take center stage beneath the Eiffel Tower—Adelaide will host the next global showcase, welcoming more than 90 men’s and women’s teams, representing over 50 nations. Around 190 of the world’s best players are expected to compete, ensuring 10 days of fierce competition and festival atmosphere.
The Drive Centre Court will be the main stage, hosting feature matches both day and night, including all Australian team appearances and the highly anticipated medal matches on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November.
FIVB President, Dr Ary S. Graça F°, celebrated the milestone:
“For the first time in the history of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, we are heading to Australia, Oceania and Asia! Adelaide is a beautiful southern city and a natural fit for beach volleyball. I am confident it will be a fantastic host for this prestigious tournament.”
Jenny Mann, CEO of Adelaide 2025, said preparations are in full swing:
“In just over a month the world’s best will be competing at the Paris Olympics, and then the next stop is Adelaide. We are thrilled to welcome Olympians and the sport’s top players to South Australia, creating a celebration of world-class beach volleyball in the heart of the city.”
Mann added that Adelaide’s multicultural community is expected to embrace the event, supporting competing nations such as Brazil, China, Italy, India and Spain.
“Beach volleyball brings together top female and male athletes with global appeal. South Australians, Australians, and international fans alike will enjoy a vibrant springtime festival of sport.”
The South Australian Tourism Commission is backing the Championships as the Official Destination Partner, ensuring Adelaide shines on the global stage as host of one of the sport’s most prestigious tournaments.
