The world's top badminton athletes gather in the Danish capital Copenhagen from 21–27 August for the 2023 BWF World Championships. Thailand Kunlavut Vitidsarn wins the Gold Medal at the 2023 BWF World Championship Singles title in Copenhagen on Sunday.

The Thai shuttler defeated Japanies Kodai Naraoka in three sets 19-21, 21-18, 21-7 to win the gold.

Notably, he became the first Thai shuttler to win the World Championships gold medal in the men's singles category. He Also won the silver medal in the 2022 edition.

This is the second time Vitidsarn has featured in the World Championships final and on his second try he brought home the ultimate prize. He became the first Men's Singles World Champion from Thailand.



An Se-young outplays Carolina Marin to claim historic first Badmonton world title







An Se-young defeated Carolina Marin to become the Republic of Korea's first women's singles world champion on Sunday.

The world number one, playing in her 11th final from 12 tournaments this year, beat Marin 21-12, 21-10 at the BWF World Championships in Copenhagen.

Having defeated Olympic champion Chen Yufei in Saturday's semi-finals, An won six points in a row to take an early 10-4 lead against the 30-year-old Spanish left-hander.

An, 21, became the first South Korean to win a women's singles title in the world championships' 46-year history. An was the first South Korean to even play in the final in 30 years.



Chinese Qingchen and Yifan makes history in women's double BWF Worlds title.







Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan of the People's Republic of China became the first pair in history to win three consecutive women's double world titles, overall four, when they swept past Indonesia's Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti 21-16, 21-12 in 41 minutes.

Chinese Pair becomes the first women's pair to win four golds in the tournament's history.

There was a surprise in the first final of the day as South Korea's fifth seeds Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung got the better of China's reigning champions Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong 21-18 in the third.

Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti pushed back from becoming the first Indonesian women’s doubles champions.





2023 BWF World Championships Men's Doubles







Seo also takes part in the last final of the day, the men's doubles, alongside Kang Min-hyuk as they face home favourites Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen.

Seo Seung Jae will attempt to become the first male player since countryman Kim Dong Moon to win a double title at the World Championships.



Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung win a world mixed doubles title in 20 years.







Earlier Sunday, Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung captured the mixed doubles title by beating the top-ranked tandem from China, Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, 21-17, 10-21, 21-18.

Seo and Chae, ranked fifth in the world, are the first South Korean team in 20 years to win a world mixed doubles title.

In the intervening years, South Korea had won three bronze medals -- in 2009, 2010 and 2013. No South Korean team even reached the semifinals from 2014 to 2022.

What is the Prize Money for 2023 Badminton World Championships?




The 2023 Badminton World Championships will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark and will offer a total prize money of $2.25 million. This is the highest amount of prize money ever offered in the history of badminton, and it will be divided among the various categories of the tournament.



The winning pair in the men’s singles and women’s singles events will receive $100,000 each, while the runners-up will receive $50,000 each.

The winning doubles pair in the men’s doubles and women’s doubles events will receive $50,000 each, while the runners-up will receive $25,000 each.

The winning pair in the mixed doubles event will receive $50,000, while the runners-up will receive $25,000.



In addition to the prize money for the individual events, there will also be a team prize of $250,000, which will be awarded to the team with the highest overall points in the tournament.
