Mookie Betts Wins 2025 Roberto Clemente Award Before World Series Game 3

Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts added one of baseball’s most meaningful honors to his glittering résumé, receiving the 2025 Roberto Clemente Award before Game 3 of the World Series. Though an eight-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion, Betts said this moment felt more rewarding than any statistical or on-field milestone.

The award recognizes extraordinary character, community involvement, and philanthropy, and Betts’ work off the field has made him one of the sport’s most respected figures. Through his 5050 Foundation, Betts and his wife, Brianna, have quietly led initiatives supporting homelessness relief, youth sports, education, and financial literacy — from feeding unhoused families in Los Angeles to funding baseball tournaments in his hometown of Nashville.

Betts’ humility remains central to his mission. “We don’t do it for recognition,” he said. “Life is about how you make people feel. We just want to be a good example for kids — to show them they can do good, no matter what.”

By earning this award during a World Series run, Betts became the first player since Carlos Beltrán (2013) to be honored while still chasing a championship, symbolizing both his excellence on the diamond and his enduring compassion beyond it.
