Snell fans 12, Ohtani belts 51st as Dodgers blank Phillies 5-0.

Blake Snell struck out a season-high 12 over seven dominant innings and Shohei Ohtani crushed his 51st homer as the Los Angeles Dodgers shut out the Philadelphia Phillies 5-0 on Wednesday night, avoiding a three-game sweep.

Freddie Freeman also went deep for the Dodgers, who steadied themselves after blowing late leads in the first two games of the series.

Snell (5-4) was nearly untouchable, allowing just two hits — both in the third inning — while throwing a season-high 112 pitches. He briefly wobbled in the seventh with back-to-back walks, but after a mound visit from manager Dave Roberts, Snell fanned rookie Otto Kemp to escape. The lefty roared as the sellout crowd of 50,859 erupted. It was his first career win against Philadelphia.

Freeman’s solo blast in the second put L.A. on the board, and Ben Rortvedt’s RBI single doubled the lead. In the fourth, Andy Pages created havoc: he walked, stole second, advanced on a pickoff error, and scored on Kiké Hernández’s clutch two-out knock. Ohtani capped the offense with a towering solo homer in the fifth.

Jesús Luzardo (14-7) struck out six in seven innings but gave up two left-on-left homers for the first time this season.

The Phillies, who had slugged six homers in the first two games, mustered almost nothing at the plate. Kyle Schwarber (53 homers) and Bryce Harper combined to go 0-for-7, with Schwarber striking out three times.

Ohtani extended his on-base streak to 22 games, the longest active run in the majors.
