Caitlin Clark’s Season Over After Groin Injury Setback

Caitlin Clark ruled out for rest of whole Fever season with groin injury.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark will miss the remainder of the season due to a right groin injury.

“I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not be returning to play this season,” Clark said in a statement. “Disappointed isn’t a big enough word. I want to thank everyone who supported me through all the uncertainty.”

Clark was injured on July 15 against the Connecticut Sun and later suffered a bone bruise. She averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds in 13 games this year before being sidelined.

Fever GM Amber Cox said the team prioritized Clark’s long-term health: “She has worked so hard to return, but there’s not enough time left in the season for her to safely come back. We look forward to seeing her at full strength in 2026.”

The 2024 Rookie of the Year had been pushing to rejoin the lineup, even participating in limited drills this week. But she never progressed to full-contact work.

Indiana, currently eighth in the standings, is battling for a playoff spot despite losing five players to season-ending injuries, including Clark.

Clark, who had never missed a game in college or her rookie season, also dealt with quad and left groin issues earlier this year. Still, her impact has been massive: WNBA attendance hit record highs even with her missing much of the season.

LeBron James summed up the support she’s received, writing on social media: “Minor setback for a MAJOR COMEBACK!! Rest up, get healthy and be YOU!”
