The 2014 and 2015 IPL champions each received a check for Rs. 15 crore, while the runners-up received Rs. 10 crore.

When the prize money for the winners of the IPL-2016 increased to a whopping Rs 20 crore, Rs 11 crore went to the runners-up.

The runners-up in 2018 and 2019 received Rs 12.5 crore as opposed to Rs 11 crore in 2016 and 2017, but the cash prize for the winning team remained the same until IPL 2019.



The first wave of the pandemic caused the IPL prize money to decline in 2020 for the first time in more than ten years. The winners received a cash prize of Rs. 10 crore, while the runners-up were given Rs. 6.25 crore.

For IPL 2021, the prize money was increased to Rs 20 crore. The runners-up received 12.5 crore rupees.


Over the years, the prize money increased steadily, peaking around ₹20 crores in recent seasons. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were temporary reductions. 

By 2022 and beyond IPL overall prize purse will receive around INR 40-25 crores in prize pool, the winners again received around ₹20 crores, while runners-up was gets the around 12.5-13 Crores and playoff qualifiers shared the rest.

In the period between the IPL 2022, IPL 2023 and IPL 2024 seasons, the winners continued to receive Rs 20 crore whereas the runners-up received Rs 13 crore.


 IPL 2025 Winners RCB received Rs 20 crores as IPL 2025 prize money, while runner-up PBKS received Rs. 12.5 crores. 

Third Place (Mumbai Indians) for reaching Qualifier 2 gets Rs 7 crore and Fourth Place (Gujarat Titans) for reaching Eliminator gets Rs 6.5 crore.

Meanwhile, all individual winners were handed a sum of Rs 10 lakh each, including the Orange and Purple Cap winners.
