Kos & Schoenmaker Wins Men's Women's 200m B-Stroke Titles

2023 swimming's world championships: Hungary's Kos Wins Men's 200m Backstroke World Title






Hungary's Hubert Kos won the men's 200m backstroke title at swimming's world championships on Friday.

Kos came home in 1min, 54.14sec to finish ahead of American Ryan Murphy on 1:54.83 and Switzerland's Roman Mityukov on 1:55.34.

Kos has been training under Bob Bowman, Michael Phelps's former mentor who also coaches French sensation Leon Marchand.

Murphy beat Italian world record-holder Thomas Ceccon to win the 100m backstroke earlier in the week.

Kos has only become a backstroke specialist in the last year.



2023 swimming's world championships: Schoenmaker Wins Women's 200m Breaststroke World Title




South Africa's Tatjana Schoenmaker won the women's 200m breaststroke title at swimming's world championships on Friday.

Schoenmaker, the Olympic champion, touched the wall in 2min, 20.80sec to finish ahead of American Kate Douglass in 2:21.23 and Tes Schouten of the Netherlands in 2:21.63.

Lilly King of the United States, the defending champion, finished fourth.



Evgeniia Chikunova set a new world record of 2:17.55 at the Russian national championships in April.
