The 16-team College Basketball Crown is in its inaugural season and will be played March 31-April 6 in Las Vegas, including teams from the Big Ten, Big East, Big 12, as well as at-large teams selected by a committee. The Big Ten, Big East and Big 12 get two automatic qualifiers. Games will be shown on FS1 and Fox.

The inaugural College Basketball Crown postseason tournament finalized its field early Monday morning with 16 teams set to compete.

What is the College Basketball Crown?


The inaugural tournament is a 16-team bracket held March 31-April 6 in Las Vegas and positioned as a competitor to the long-running National Invitation Tournament. The tournament, created by Fox Sports and AEG, includes the top two non-NCAA Tournament teams from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Big East; those leagues have TV deals with Fox. The rest of the field is selected at-large. The first two rounds are at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, while the semifinals and championship are at T-Mobile Arena.

Has anyone opted out of the Crown Basketball Tournament?



Yes. Indiana, West Virginia and Ohio State were in line for automatic bids, but did not accept. Rutgers, Kansas State, Penn State, Wake Forest and TCU declined at-large invites.

The College Basketball Crown will take place from Monday, March 31 through the final on Sunday, April 6.

Second round: Wednesday, April 2 and Thursday, April 3

Semifinals: Saturday, April 5 (1:30 p.m. ET and 4 p.m. ET)

Final: Sunday, April 6 (5:30 p.m. ET)

College Basketball Crown prize money, NIL funds, payment



An incentive to play in the College Basketball Crown will be those that make it far in the tournament will get an NIL deal. The championship team will get a prize pool of a $300,000 NIL package. The runner-up gets a $100,000 prize pool package while the semifinalist get $50,000 prize pool package. Fox Sports reported players from the semifinalist teams "will have opportunities to leverage their NIL through various marketing campaigns, including social media activations and more."
