Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Format, How does it works.?
Each dog will compete against other dogs in the group it has chosen, and will receive points based on how many dogs it can defeat. Therefore, the winner will receive more points if there are more dogs competing in an event.
A pre-written standard outlining the perfect dog's characteristics, including the ideal dog's height, weight, coat, colours, eye colour and shape, ear shape, feet, tail, and more, will be used to judge the dogs.
- The top 210 dogs from the Best of Breed competition advance to the Best in Group events where they will fight for the highly coveted Best In Show award.
- The winner of each breed advances to the semifinal phase of judging when they compete against other dogs in their "group," such as hounds, herding dogs, or terriers. The seven group winners fight for best in show in the final round.

How does judging work in Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show?
At Westminster, there are seven different breed categories: working, herding, hound, non-sporting, sporting, terrier, and toy.
Breeds are judged in accordance with the criteria established by its parent organisation, therefore competing dogs aren't judged against one another but rather against the ideal proportions, weight, height, head shape, stride, and other traits of the breed.
How Do Dogs Get into the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.?
Breeders determine which puppies in a litter have the physical characteristics and temperament to excel in what is known as "conformation" competition before they may become a possible best in show winner.
After having a show-quality dog, some puppies eventually get it to Westminster with owners who learned the ropes.

Wire fox terriers have won the top prize 15 times in records dating back to 1907, most recently in 2019. The breeds with five or more victories include Scottish terriers, English springer spaniels, standard poodles, and Pekingese.
Many breeds, even well-known ones like the Labrador retriever, have yet to succeed.
Border collies have won nearly all of the agility titles thus far, and Labrador retrievers have won nearly all of the obedience championships. One Lab, Heart, took first place five times in a row.
