German pair Wanser/Autenrieth wins the 470 sailing World Championship 2022 title in Israel.
The German pair of Luise Wanser and Philipp Autenrieth holds off Camille Lecointre/Jeremie Mion of France, to secured the gold medal in the 470 sailing World Championship 2022 in JERUSALEM, Israel.
This is the first time Germany has won the sailing 470 Worlds gold medal at the since 1994.
The 2022 Sailing World championship, which will take place off the coast of the Mediterranean village of Sdot Yam, Israeli, will be the first to feature only mixed teams instead of the previously-held separate women's and men's competitions.
The mixed German team finished first and 12th in the races on Friday, leaving them with 51 negative points after 11 races going into the pivotal Medal Race on Saturday.
The French team of Camille Lecointre and Jeremie Mion, who are currently in second place overall with 73 negative points, will still be ahead of the German team even if they come in last place in Saturday's Medal Race, for which the top 10 teams qualified.
The third place is currently occupied by Lucie de Gennes/Matisse Pacaud of France with 79 points, followed by Spain's Jordi Xammar/Nora Brugman with 80 points, and Germany's Simon Diesch/Anna Markfort, with 81 points.
