USA dethrone China wins 2022 Women's Basketball title for 11th times

United States beats China to wins 4th straight FIBA Women's Basketball world cup & Overall 11th title, Australia takes Bronze medal.





The USA claimed their fourth consecutive FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup title, 11th in total as they defeated China 83-61 in front of a sold out Sydney Superdome, while Australia's Lauren Jackson brought the curtain down on her glittering career with a bronze medal.



WNBA's Las Vegas Aces Star, A’ja Wilson named MVP of the tournament as she scored 19 points, 5 rebounds, Kelsey Plum added 17 and the United States beat China to win its fourth Straight gold medal at the women’s basketball World Cup.



China forced the United States to work for its hard-earned lead, which it had increased to 43-33 at the midway point after taking a hard-earned early lead of 18-13 at the end of the first quarter.

  • At halftime, it appeared that the game would end in a draw, but China suddenly lost steam and fell down by 21 points in the third period as Jewell Loyd and Kelsey Plum scored a combined 15 points.


In front of almost 16,000 spectators in the Sydney Superdome, the United States survived a late Chinese push in the final quarter to win their fourth consecutive Women's Basketball World Cup.


  • With 19 points, Li Yueru led the way for China, who won their second women's basketball World Cup silver medal.

Host Australian takes home bronze medal by thrashing Canada.




The 2022 FIBA Basketball World Cup's third-place finisher, Australia, won a bronze medal in Sydney earlier on Saturday.

Canada lost to the Opals 95–65. The game's leading scorer was centre Lauren Jackson of Australia, a 41-year-old who scored 30 points versus Canada.

  • Kia Nurse scored 19 points to lead Canada.



FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2022 - Team of tournament, MVP.


The team of the tournament has been unveiled after the final. Two USA players, Wilson and Breanna Stewart, were selected to the team.
