Alpinista beat Vadeni to wins 2022 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe title for trainer Sir Mark Prescott.

Alpinista defeated Vadeni, won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe title 2022 for the 74-year-old British trainer Sir Mark Prescott.

Jockey Luke Morris steered the grey mare to victory in Europe's richest event, the popular Prescott's biggest success in 53 years of training.

  • Alpinista defeated Vadeni, who was ridden by Christophe Soumillon, with 2021 winner Torquator Tasso finishing third for Frankie Dettori.
  • It constituted a first British-trained Arc winner since Enable in 2018, and was just the second for a five-year-old mare following that of Corrida in 1937..

Prescott, a renowned raconteur schooled at Harrow School, lives alone and rises before 4 a.m. every day.

Prescott was moved to tears as Alpinista, owned and bred by Kirsten Rausing, won her sixth Group One victory in a row.

The 7-2 favourite was greeted with wild applause as he returned to the winner's cage.
