Liverpool, Messi Nadal Ruiz, Rapinoe among Laureus Sports nominations

Liverpool Team, Messi v Nadal Woods, Hamilton, Ruiz, Rapinoe v Biles, among Laureus Sports 2019 nominations.





 Liverpool Team has earned a double nomination at this year's prestigious 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards after their incredible Champions League triumph last season.


 Jurgen Klopp's side names Team of the Year having lifted the Champions League trophy in Madrid, and Comeback of the Year for their memorable victory against Barcelona in the semi-final second leg at Anfield.

Nadal is among those nominated for the sportsman of the year alongside Eliud Kipchoge, Lewis Hamilton, Lionel Messi, Marc Marquez, and Tiger Woods.


 Osaka is among the six nominees along with gymnastics star Simone Biles - sprinter Allyson Felix, footballer Megan Rapinoe and skiier Mikaela Shiffrin for the sportswoman award after winning the Australian Open last January.


 Bianca Andreescu is nominated for the breakthrough of the year after winning her first Grand Slam at 19, Andreescu will face fellow WTA star Coco Gauff, who stunned the tennis world when she reached the fourth round of Wimbledon Just at the age of 15, 

AND also Heavyweight boxer Andy Ruiz, who stunned the world by beating Anthony Joshua and winning four world titles, despite Joshua regain the world titles in REMATCH.


 The three-time Grand Slam champions named in the comeback of the year, Andy Murray returned from hip resurfacing surgery to win the doubles title at Queens and then in October beat Stan Wawrinka at the European Open.
