Ukrainian Svitolina, 25, had fought back to lead 5-7 6-3 4-1 when a tearful Belinda Bencic, 22, retired from their semi-final with cramp, Now Defending champion Elina Svitolina will face world number one Ashleigh Barty in the WTA Finals showpiece in Shenzhen on Sunday afternoon...

 In the other Semi-final No.1 seed, Ashleigh Barty bounced back from a set down to reach her first final at the Shiseido WTA Finals Shenzhen, defeating No.2 seed Karolina Pliskova 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 53 minutes.

In five previous meetings, No.8 seed Elina Svitolina has conceded no losses and just two sets to No.1 seed Ashleigh Barty.
 Svitolina also posted straight-sets defeats of Barty at Wimbledon and Beijing in 2017, and at Miami 2018.
 Svitolina is seeking her first title since winning the WTA Finals at the end of 2018, in her first final of the 2019 season.
