Federer face Nadal French Open Semi's after beating Wawrinka


Roger Federer beat Stan Wawrinka to face Rafael Nadal in French Open 2019 Semi-Final.





 Roger Federer will play against the 11th time Champions of French Open Rafael Nadal for the 39th time on Friday after defeating the Swiss star Stan Wawrinka also the second set down 7-6 4-6 7-6 6-4.

In an earlier match, Second seed Rafael Nadal enjoyed an all three set to push back Japanese 6-1 6-1 6-3 win over Japanese seventh seed Kei Nishikori in one hour and 51 minutes.


Now next in French Open,  11th time Winners Rafael Nadal will play their next match against the 20 time Grand Slam champions Roger Federer in the semi-final of Roland Garros. It will be his 12th time in the final four of the French Open – on each of the 11 previous occasions he has gone on to win the thing.

Federer vs Nadal plays for the first time since 2017 Shanghai. They were set to battle in the semi-finals of this year’s BNP Paribas Open, but Nadal withdrew due to an injury.

Their 39th FedEx ATP Head2Head clash (Nadal leads 23-15) will be their first on clay since 2013 Rome.


 Roger Federer, at 37, is the second-oldest man to make the semi-finals appearance at Roland Garros. Only Pancho Gonzales, who was 40 in 1968, was older. He is the oldest major semi-finalist since 39-year-old Jimmy Connors at the 1991 US Open.

 "Stan has had some tough years with injuries," added Federer, who is into the last four of the competition for the first time since 2012.  
"I had to break his rhythm because he's so powerful. I took some risks and they came off but I was pretty lucky at the end."

 Britain's Johanna Konta beats American Sloane Stephens 6-1 6-4 to reach semi-finals.

Konta first GB woman since Jo Durie in 1983 to make last four at Roland Garros


 The other will be Novak Djokovic or Alex Zverev taking on Dominic Thiem or Karen Khachanov.
