NFL Honors 2025: Bills QB Josh Allen wins the 2024 AP NFL Most Valuable Player award, history






The voting for the AP NFL Most Valuable Player award was goes to Allen that merely win by last year winner Lamar Jackson. 

Bills' Josh Allen was named the 2024 AP NFL MVP winner at the 14th NFL Honors in New Orleans before the Super Bowl 59.

Allen edged two-time winner Lamar Jackson for the AP NFL Most Valuable Player award in the closest race since Matt Ryan beat out Tom Brady in 2016.


Allen, who led Buffalo to a fifth straight AFC East title, got 27 first-place votes to Jackson’s 23 and finished with 383 points. He received 22 second-place votes and one third. The Bills fell short of playing on Sunday, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game.

Jackson, who led the Ravens to a second straight AFC North championship, got 26 second-place votes and one fourth for a total of 362 points.

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley finished third (120 points) followed by Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (82) and Lions QB Jared Goff (47).

Allen threw for 3,731 yards, 28 TDs and had six picks for a 101.4 passer rating. He ran for 531 yards and 12 scores, becoming the first player in NFL history to have five consecutive seasons with at least 40 total touchdowns.




Last Year WINNER: Though the season ultimately fell short of his expectations, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson still made history at Thursday evening's NFL Honors ceremony by winning The Associated Press' NFL MVP award for a second time.

At 27, Jackson is the youngest two-time MVP since the merger, beating out Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes by just over nine months.

 For the 2019 season, Jackson joined Tom Brady as the only players to get all 50 first-place votes for MVP.

While the Joe Montana and Steve Young with 49ers and Kurt Warner with L.A Rams has won the NFL MVP's Award two times.

Jim Brown was the first Running back player from Cleveland Browns who won the NFL MVP award two times in 1957-1958.
