McGill, 50, wins US Senior Women’s Open for third USGA title

Jill McGill beat Leta Lindley by one stroke, even-par 73 to wins US Senior Women’s Open for third USGA title for first since 1994.




  • Jill McGill won the U.S. Senior Women’s Open for her third U.S. Golf Association title, closing with an even-par 73 on a day when no one broke par for a one-stroke victory by defeating Leta Lindley.



On the South Course of NCR Country Club, McGill, 50-year-old, finished at 3-under 289 strokes. She also triumphed in the 1994 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links and the 1993 U.S. Women's Amateur.



The only other players to have won three different USGA championships are Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, JoAnne Carner, and Carol Semple Thompson, who McGill shared the course with during the final round.



  • Jill McGill earned $180,000 and a booked their place next year in the U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach.



With Helen Alfredsson, the third-round co-leader who shot a 76 to end the round, Catriona Matthew tied for third place at 1 under with a 73.

Sorenstam shot 77 to tie for fifth place at 1 over par with Juli Inkster and 2018 winner Laura Davies (78). (73).
