The Current FedEx Cup Playoffs format is the same as it has been since 2019,
Players receive points for their performance in each tournament throughout the regular season; the winner of an event during the regular season receives 500 points, while the winner of an event during the Golf Majors plus the Players Championship receives 600 points.
The top 125 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings at the end of the regular season advance to the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the opening round of the playoffs. The top 70 finishers in the FedEx St. Jude Championship standings advance to the BMW Championship the following week.
- The first two Playoffs events (FedEx St. Jude and BMW champions) award 2,000 2000 FedEx Cup points, Then, the top 30 finishers in the BMW Championship advance to the Tour Championship in Atlanta, which features a strokes-based system.

The Tour Championship is unlike any other tournament on the PGA Tour. In this Playoffs event players are given “starting strokes” based on their place in the FedEx Cup standings.
The No. 2 player will start at 8 under.
The No. 3 player starts at 7 under;
The No. 4 player starts at 6 under;
The No. 5 player starts at 5 under.
Players 6-10 start at 4 under;
Players 11-15 start at 3 under;
Players 16-20 start at 2 under;
Players 21-25 start at 1 under; and
Players 26-30 start at even par.
Whoever finishes the Tour Championship with the lowest score to par is crowned the FedEx Cup champion.
