NFL playoffs Rankings: About 12 teams playing on Super Wild Card Weekend

NFL playoffs first look: about 12 teams rankings, playing on Super Wild Card Weekend, AFC, NFC's final three slots after wild Week 18 games.

The NFL's longest regular season ever is officially over.

We know which 14 teams are worthy of a postseason appearance after 17 games, and there's little question that this year has been wildly unpredictable. Even the final week gave us a few surprises.

In a wild Week 18, the Raiders became the final team to clinch a playoff berth on Sunday when they punched their ticket to the postseason by winning a 35-32 overtime thriller over the Chargers.

The Raiders' win capped a crazy day in the NFL that saw a huge upset (by the Jaguars), a huge comeback (by the 49ers) and three wild overtime wins (by the Steelers, Raiders and 49ers) in games that completely changed the playoff landscape.

In the NFC, the 49ers clinched a playoff berth after pulling off a wild comeback against the Rams. The Niners trailed 17-0 at one point, but fought back to win the game 27-24 in overtime.

The top seed in the NFC, the Green Bay Packers, didn't know if their star quarterback would be playing for them as recently as six months ago.

The top seed in the AFC, the Tennessee Titans, lost All-Pro running back Derrick Henry for half the season, played without star receivers A.J. Brown and Julio Jones for a combined 11 games, and have endured a litany of other injuries across their roster.

AFC Playoff Latest Standing, Rankings, Matchups, start-times, When & Where it is Held, how to watch, TV Channel.?

1. Tennesse Titans -- AFC South champion - (12-5)

Wild-card opponent:  Bye

The road to the Super Bowl in the AFC will officially be going through Nashville.

All the Titans had to do to clinch the top seed was beat the Texans and that's exactly what they did. The win was huge for Tennessee, because it gives them a first-round bye, which means Derrick Henry will now get another week to heal before potentially making his return in the divisional round.

2. Kansas City Chiefs -- AFC West champion -- 12-5

Next opponent: Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 7)

When: Sunday, 8:15 p.m. ET (NBC, Peacock, Telemundo)

The Chiefs have never played in the wild card weekend since Mahomes became the full-time starter but it shouldn't matter. They throttled Pittsburgh a few weeks ago. They'll do it again.

3. Bufflo Bills -- AFC East champion - (11-6)

Next opponent: New England Patriots (No. 6)

When: Saturday, 8:15 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

The Bills have endured their ups and downs but they're rounding into form. They've already beaten the Patriots in a rematch. They'll take them again in this game.

4. Cincinnati Bengals -- AFC North champion (10-7)

Next opponent: Las Vegas Raiders (No. 5)

When: Saturday, 4:30 p.m. ET (NBC, Peacock, Universo)

The Bengals have the right mix of youth, talent and confidence. They're young enough to not be scared by the postseason but inexperienced enough to make critical mistakes in big moments. It also helps that they'll see the Raiders in Super Wild Card Weekend. Cincinnati has too much firepower for the Las Vegas defense.

5. Las Vegas Raiders - Wild Card 1 (10-7)

Next opponent: at Cincinnati Bengals (No. 4)

When: Saturday, 4:30 p.m. ET (NBC, Peacock, Universo)

Las Vegas been written off numerous times this season and it pulled off a win in an amazing finale against the Chargers. But that's where this story ends. The Bengals are the better team.

6. New England Patriots -- Wild Card 2 (10-7)

Next opponent: at Buffalo Bills (No. 3)

When: Saturday, 8:15 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+)

New England is trending in the wrong direction. Aside from a 50-10 beatdown of Jacksonville in Week 17, there hasn't been much for the Patriots to smile about of late. They also have reached the point in the season where they'll need more from Jones. It doesn't look like he's ready to meet the challenge in the team's third meeting against Buffalo.

7. Pittsburgh Steelers -- Wild Card 3 (9-7-1)

Next opponent: at Kansas City Chiefs (No. 2)

When: Sunday, 8:15 p.m. ET (NBC, Peacock, Telemundo)

The Steelers trailed 30-0 when they faced Kansas City in Week 16 and wound up losing by 26. It probably won't be that close this time.

1. Green Bay Packers -- NFC North champion (13-4)

Wild-card opponent:   Bye

The Packers have already clinched the top seed in the NFC and the first-round bye that comes with it.

The fact that they lost to the Lions on Sunday means absolutely nothing when it comes to the playoff race.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- NFC South champion (13-4)

Next opponent: Philadelphia Eagles (No. 7)

When: Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (FOX, FOX Deportes)

The Bucs have a few issues to deal with right now. Those problems won't keep them from advancing past Philadelphia in the wild-card round.

3. Dallas Cowboys-- NFC East champion (12-5)

Next opponent: San Francisco 49ers (No. 6)

When:
Sunday, 4:30 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+, Nickelodeon, Amazon Prime Video)

The Cowboys may have scored 50 points twice over the past month -- against Washington and Philadelphia -- but those efforts are misleading. The Football Team was imploding while the Eagles approached the season finale like it was a preseason affair. That said, Dallas should be able to handle the 49ers in a wild-card game.

4. Los Angeles Rams-- NFC West champion (12-5)

Next opponent: Arizona Cardinals (No. 5)

When: Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN/ABC, ESPN2, ESPN+, ESPN Deportes)

Rams head coach Sean McVay said the story was still being written on his team when the Rams were mired in a three-game losing streak earlier this year. That narrative feels a lot better these days, even though the Rams backed into the NFC West title.

The Rams split with Arizona this year, but Los Angeles is the safer bet these days.

5 . Arizona Cardinals -- Wild-Card 1 (11-6)

Next opponent: at L.A. Rams (No. 4)

When: Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN/ABC, ESPN2, ESPN+, ESPN Deportes)

The Cardinals are easily the hardest team to decipher at this point in the season. They were the best team in the league at one point, and then they had the look of a team careening toward a meltdown.

Their home loss to the floundering Seahawks doesn’t bode well, especially with a division title on the line. The Rams simply look more prepared for the postseason right now.

6. San Francisco 49ers -- Wild Card 2 (10-7)

Next opponent: at Dallas Cowboys (No. 3)

When: Sunday, 4:30 p.m. ET (CBS, Paramount+, Nickelodeon, Amazon Prime Video)

The 49ers have some qualities that could make them scary in a one-game scenario. The problem is the Cowboys have the kind of opportunistic defense that should fluster Garoppolo.

7. Philadelphia Eagles -- Wild-Card 3 (9-8)

Next opponent: at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 2)

When: Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (FOX, FOX Deportes)

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni did an impressive job of remaking this team on the fly. Too bad it won’t be enough to get them past the Bucs.
