Two-thirds of the field has already been eliminated as we head towards the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup.

Morocco and France became the first two teams to punch their tickets to the quarterfinals. The Atlas Lions dispatched Canada 3–0 in Houston just a few hours before Les Bleus edged past Paraguay 1–0 in Philadelphia.

Yet unbeaten Morocco is impressive in its own right, hanging with Brazil in the group stage and then taking out the Netherlands in the round of 32.


France

2018 World Cup Winner and 2022 runner-up France has qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals once again thanks to Kylian Mbappe's penalty against throwaway Paraguay in a 1-0 victory; Les Bleus go through to the last 8 round once again, and Mbappe levelled against the Argentinian Star Lionel Messi in Golden Boot standings with 7 World Cup goals.

Spain: 

Spain topped their group and cruised past Austria 3-0 in the Round of 32. They defeated rivals Portugal 1-0 in the Round of 16 with a late winner, displaying strong possession-based football and tactical discipline to reach the quarters.

Belgium: 

Belgium finished top of their group and delivered a statement 4-1 thrashing of co-hosts USA in the Round of 16 (Charles De Ketelaere scored twice), blending experience with attacking flair to advance convincingly.

Norway: 

Norway progressed from the group stage and pulled off a major upset by beating Brazil 2-1 in the Round of 16, with Erling Haaland starring. This marked their first-ever quarterfinal appearance, powered by clinical counter-attacking and set-piece threats.


England: 

England won their group and survived a dramatic Round of 16 clash against co-hosts Mexico, winning 3-2 despite playing much of the second half with 10 men. It was a resilient, high-drama performance featuring penalties and red cards.

Argentina:

 Defending champions Argentina reached the quarterfinals after a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Egypt in the Round of 16. Trailing 2-0, in a historic comeback of Albiceleste goals from Cristian Romero, Lionel Messi, and Enzo Fernández winner score in stoppage time sealed the victory, with Messi starring despite missing a penalty.

Switzerland:

 Switzerland advanced to their first FIFA World Cup quarterfinal since 1954 after defeating Colombia 4-3 on penalties following a goalless draw. Ruben Vargas scored the decisive spot-kick, setting up a quarterfinal clash with Argentina on July 11.
