Slowest NFL combine 40-yard dash time by Position: Overall, positional breakdown
NFL teams have a need for speed.
Debates will rage on about those measurables and on-field performances, but nothing matters more than the two or three-digit number next to the 40-yard dash time. Scouts, coaches, front office staff and fans will always convince themselves that you can develop those players that are blazing fast. After all, you can't teach those athletic abilities.
What about the flipside of that?
Sometimes slow and steady wins the race. There's a savvy nature to the slower folks in society that have to be more cerebral – where the quickness resides with the mind rather than the feet.
Not everyone will steal headlines running a fast 40-yard dash. Some could do it for the other reason. Here's a breakdown of the slowest official 40 times, overall and by position, on record at the NFL combine since 2000.
