USA delivered on its end by routing Slovakia, 6-2, on Feb. 20, hours after Canada defeated Finland, 3-2 in the first semifinal of the day at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.
USA and Canada will meet Sunday, Feb. 22 to settle who gets gold and who gets silver. The match falls three days after the women's hockey finale, in which the USA women defeated Canada to claim gold.
In just a handful of hours, the gold medal game for men's hockey will take place at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
But before one of the 12 competing countries can be handed an Olympic medal and hear their native country's national anthem played, there's some playoff action to be played in Milan.
Four spots in the quarterfinal round of men's hockey were claimed out of round-robin play by Canada, the United States, Slovakia and Finland.
