Daytona 500 prize money: Record purse, winner payout for Great American Race

2026 Daytona 500 prize money: What is record purse for 2026 NASCAR race.?

— NASCAR hasn’t disclosed the Daytona 500 winner’s payout since Joey Logano collected a $1.58 million check for first place in 2015.

What NASCAR does release is the total purse, and the 68th running of the Great American Race will hit a new high.

This year, the field will earn $31,045,575, an increase of over $700,000 from $30,331,250 in 2025.

The pot nearly doubles the approximate $18 million collective from the year of Logano’s victory. With a little math, the winner of the 2026 Daytona figures to take home over $2 million with the rest of the earnings trickling down the field.

The only person ineligible to earn anything from Sunday’s main event is NASCAR Hall of Famer and two-time Daytona 500 winner Jimmie Johnson, who is participating using an Open Exemption Provisional.

But the other 40 drivers will take home something for their performance at Daytona International Speedway, and William Byron is aiming to win his third consecutive winner’s check.
