NCAA Signing Dates — Official Calendar & Complete Guide

2025–26 NCAA Signing Dates — Official Calendar & Complete Guide.

The official signing calendar is the backbone of every athlete’s recruiting journey. Your scholarship, roster spot, and future depend on hitting the correct window. Miss a date, and you risk losing the opportunity you’ve worked toward for years.

Division I and Division II no longer use the National Letter of Intent. Both divisions now rely on a Written Offer of Athletics Aid, signed during the same windows that previously belonged to the NLI.

Same dates. New document. Same life-changing moment.

Below is the full 2025–26 signing schedule, sport by sport, with key explanations to help every recruit stay ahead.

Division I and Division II Basketball

Two official signing windows.

Early Signing Period

November 12 – November 19, 2025

Regular Signing Period

Opens April 15, 2026
Final date varies by school

Why it matters:

The early period gives committed athletes the chance to finalize their plans before winter. The regular period supports those who improve throughout their senior season or AAU competition.

Tip: Don’t sign in November just because others are. Waiting can help raise academic standing or improve your recruiting value.

Division I and Division II Football

Football recruiting moves through several phases.

Early Signing

December 3 – December 5, 2025

Midyear JUCO Transfers

Opens December 3, 2025
Closing date set by each school

Regular Signing

Opens February 4, 2026
Extends into spring

Why it matters:

December captures a large portion of the recruiting class. February remains a crucial path for late developers, injured seniors, and JUCO athletes.

Tip: Missing the early period does not eliminate your chances. February offers meaningful opportunities after bowl season and transfer portal activity.

Most Other DI and DII Sports

A single signing window for nearly all other sports.

Initial Signing Date
November 12, 2025

Final Signing Date

Determined by each school

Sports included: soccer, volleyball, baseball, tennis, golf, lacrosse, softball, track and field, cross-country, wrestling, swimming, gymnastics.

Why it matters:
November 12 is the starting point. Coaches may delay due to scholarship management, but available aid is limited.

Tip: If you are certain about your destination, signing early lowers risk.

Transfers

NCAA Four-Year Transfers
No signing periods. Athletes must enter the Transfer Portal during the designated window for their sport. Once in the portal, they may sign a Written Offer at any time.

NAIA, NJCAA, and Other Four-Year Transfers

May sign once communication with coaches is allowed.

Why it matters:

Roster movement is constant. Compliance approval, not a coach’s verbal commitment, makes an agreement official.

Tip: Do not rely on informal promises. Nothing is finalized until compliance approves the paperwork.

JUCO Athletes

JUCO athletes are a major recruiting resource for college programs.

Midyear Signing

Opens December 3, 2025
Final date determined by each school

Why it matters:

Programs often hold scholarships specifically for JUCO players because they provide immediate contribution.

Tip: Have transcripts and academic records ready. Missing one credit can cost an offer.

Division I vs. Division II Update

Both Division I and Division II have fully eliminated the NLI.
Every athlete now signs a Written Offer of Athletics Aid.

Why it matters:

The NCAA officially discontinued the NLI program in 2024. All current signing guides follow the new system.

Tip: Review everything with compliance to avoid confusion with old rules.

Why These Dates Matter

College sports now shift faster than ever. Transfer portal activity reshapes rosters daily. NIL influences decisions across all sports. Scholarship limits tighten budgets.

Missing a signing date can cost you your position and your scholarship.

Tip: Add these dates to your calendar and stay in continuous communication with coaches and compliance staff.

Final Advice

Signing day marks the start of your next chapter.
Be organized.
Know the deadlines.
Stay academically qualified.
Do not wait until the last minute.

The NLI may be gone, but signing day still defines your athletic future.
