Alfie Davis to Face Usman Nurmagomedov for PFL Lightweight Title In Dubai.

Britain’s Alfie Davis will take on Russia’s Usman Nurmagomedov for the PFL lightweight championship in Dubai on 7 February.

The 33-year-old Davis will be fighting for the first time since defeating Gadzhi Rabadanov in the PFL lightweight tournament final in August, a victory that earned him $500,000 (£369,000).

Nurmagomedov, 27, comes off a narrow win against Paul Hughes last month, marking his fourth defense as champion. After the fight, Nurmagomedov challenged Davis, saying, “Anytime, anywhere, I am waiting for you.”

Cousin of retired UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Usman enters as the favourite at the Coca-Cola Arena, holding an undefeated record of 20 professional wins, including two tight decision victories over Hughes.

Davis, meanwhile, shocked fans with his upset against Nurmagomedov’s teammate Rabadanov three months ago. He is enjoying the best form of his career and described his tournament prize money as “life-changing.”

Davis becomes the third Briton to win a PFL annual tournament, following featherweight Brendan Loughnane in 2022 and women’s flyweight Dakota Ditcheva last year.
