The Springboks just can’t stop winning.

South Africa edged Argentina 29–27 in a heart-stopping clash at London’s Allianz Stadium to claim back-to-back Rugby Championship titles for the first time in their storied history.

It wasn’t easy — it never is with the Pumas — but Rassie Erasmus’ world champions found a way, grinding out a tough, physical win in front of more than 70,000 roaring fans, many wearing green and gold.

Boks Tested Early, but Power Wins Again

Argentina came out swinging. Bautista Delguy’s early try had the crowd on its feet and the Springboks on their heels. By halftime, the Pumas led 13–10, their pace and flair stretching the South African defense.

But like champions do, South Africa adjusted.

Cobus Reinach’s lightning-fast instincts and Malcolm Marx’s raw strength flipped the script, each scoring two tries apiece as the Springboks’ famous forward pack took control. Fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu added ten crucial points off the tee, keeping his calm under pressure.

Argentina didn’t back down — Delguy grabbed another intercept try, and Rodrigo Isgro scored at the death — but the Boks’ physical dominance and composure proved decisive.

Erasmus: “We Were the Better Team”

“There’s no doubt they’re tougher at home,” coach Rassie Erasmus admitted. “But it was their choice to play here — and we were fortunate it was played at Allianz. Overall, I think we were better than the other teams this year.”

This was a title earned the hard way. South Africa lost two of their first three games, including a bruising defeat in Auckland, but bounced back with three straight wins, highlighted by a record-breaking demolition of New Zealand.

Kolisi Leads a Dynasty in the Making

Captain Siya Kolisi, already a back-to-back Rugby World Cup winner, lifted another trophy for a team that’s not just winning — it’s evolving.
Erasmus has blended new faces like Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Canan Moodie, and Ethan Hooker with veterans like Marx and Eben Etzebeth to create a squad that’s deep, dangerous, and fearless.

Even the wild London weather — gusty winds from Storm Amy — couldn’t slow the Springboks’ power game. Their scrums, mauls, and tackling once again sent a clear message: this team’s foundation is rock-solid.

Eyes Already on 2027

South Africa’s mission goes beyond today’s trophy.
“If we played the same lineup all year, maybe we’d be more consistent,” Erasmus said. “But we’re building for 2027 — a team that knows how to win.”

And right now, that’s exactly what they do.
Two Rugby World Cups. Two Rugby Championships. One unstoppable rugby empire.
