LOS ANGELES — For the second straight October, the Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series–bound — and this time, Shohei Ohtani made sure there was no doubt.

Behind Ohtani’s jaw-dropping two-way display in Game 4, the Dodgers completed a dominant four-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers with a 5–1 victory Friday night at Dodger Stadium, securing their 23rd World Series appearance in franchise history. The defending champions are now poised to chase baseball’s first repeat title in 25 years.

Ohtani, already a global phenomenon, delivered perhaps the greatest postseason performance the game has ever seen. Milwaukee, which led the majors with 97 regular-season wins, found itself overmatched by a Los Angeles club firing on every cylinder. Brewers manager Pat Murphy acknowledged his team simply ran into history.

“We were part of maybe the best individual performance ever in a postseason game,” Murphy said. “A guy punches out 10 and hits three homers — that’s incredible.”

With a week off before the World Series opens next Friday, the Dodgers await the winner of the American League Championship Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners. Either matchup will draw massive attention — particularly if Ohtani faces Toronto’s international star power or Seattle’s young, hungry roster.

For now, though, the Dodgers have earned their celebration. In a season full of expectations, they’ve once again delivered — and with Ohtani leading the charge, Los Angeles looks ready to chase baseball immortality
