Autumn Glow Stays Perfect with Dominant Golden Eagle Win the $10 million
Chris Waller’s superstar mare Autumn Glow kept her unbeaten streak alive, making it eight wins from eight starts with a brilliant victory in the $10 million Golden Eagle at Randwick.
Jumping as the $1.70 favourite, James McDonald gave the daughter of The Autumn Sun a superb ride, sitting wide throughout but travelling comfortably before surging clear to win by a length and a quarter.
Victorian galloper Sepals challenged strongly turning for home but couldn’t hold off Autumn Glow’s late burst, finishing second, while Evaporate (NZ) ran on gamely for third.
McDonald was full of admiration post-race, calling the mare “a cool girl” after claiming his first-ever Golden Eagle.
