Attica won the 2025 Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick, producing a devastating turn of foot to run down a brave Shangri La Boy.

Race 5 – 2:30PM G3 Schweppes JRA Cup (2040 METRES)

Almost three years since his last victory, imported stayer Star Of India finally notched his fourth career win with a dominant performance in the JRA Cup (2040m).

Now prepared by Trainer Chris Waller, Star Of India ($11) put the writing on the wall last time out at Sandown with a fast-finishing effort over 1800m behind Charterhouse and subsequent Group 1-winner Globe and today, he looked a class above his rivals under jockey Jye McNeil, dashing away for a two-length victory.

2.55pm: Randwick Race 5 – Sky glides to victory in Brian Crowley

Flying Artie colt Skyglider stamped himself as a horse of the future with a brilliant victory in the Listed Brian Crowley Stakes (1200m).

Having just his second career start off a short spell, jockey Kerrin McEvoy positioned the Chris Waller-trained Skyglider ($6.50) fourth on the fence in the run before taking over the running from from Young Mister Grace (Dylan Gibbons, $3.90) at the 300m.

Race 6 -- 3.10pm: Moonee Valley – McNeil hustles to victory in Tesio

Trainer Grahame Begg – recovering from a hip operation – got a timely tonic from his talented mare She's A Hustler who won a thrilling Group 3 Tesio Stakes (2040m win).

She's A Hustler (Jye McNeil, $3.80) showed her customary early pace to sit outside the leader Sea What I See (Craig Williams, $11) in the running before the race went on with earnest before the turn as Movin Out (Ben Melham, $6.50) and She's Unusual ($2.60 favourite, Zac Lloyd) made runs out wide.

Race 6 – 3.30pm: Randwick Race – Lindermann dominates Craven Plate

The Chris Waller-trained Lindermann continued his hot spring form, notching a third stakes victory in his past four starts with a dominant Group 3 Craven Plate (1800m) win.

Winner of the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes second-up this campaign – beating one-time Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup favourite Sir Delius – Lindermann was only just nabbed by weight-for-age star Fangirl in the 7 Stakes last month before dominating the Group 2 Hill Stakes at Rosehill on October 10.

Race 7 – 3.45pm: Moonee Valley Race 7 – Von Hauke swoops in Crystal Mile

Trainer Cliff Brown notched his first Cox Plate day win as Von Hauke found a gap at the right time to snatch the Group 2 Crystal Mile.

Jockey Ethan Brown watched his rivals turn up the pressure before the turn, angling Von Hauke ($10) between runners as they straightened and punching him through a narrow gap.

3.48pm: Morphettville Meeting postponed

With lightning persisting around the Morphettville area, stewards have decided to abandon the remaining six races on the nine-race card.

Racing was hit with a 30 minute delay after lightning struck following the running of race three, and strikes of lightning have been consistent since, pushing races back further.

Race 7 – 4.05pm: Randwick Race 7 – Collett's clinic in Callander-Presnell

If Ken Callander or Max Presnell were writing the story of today's Group 2 Callander-Presnell (1600m), it would be all about the ride by Jason Collett on the winner, Ohope ($2.80 favourite).

During a crucial stage of the race after the runners turned for home, the canny Collett kept Nash Rawiller's mount Rivellino ($2.90) in a pocket behind Ruination (Tommy Berry, $3.20).

By that time, Collett had dashed two lengths clear aboard the Michael Freedman-trained Ohope and Rivellino's late charge was all in vain.

Race 8 – 4.20pm: Moonee Valley Race 8 – Jigsaw victory puzzles punters

It was a boilover in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1200m), with $21 roughie Jigsaw (Logan Bates) running his rivals ragged to lead from start to finish.

The Cindy Alderson-trained gelding – a winner of more than $1.2 million – was unloved by punters despite coming into the race off a brave victory in the Apache Cat Classic (1200m) at Cranbourne on October 10.

However, Jigsaw gave nothing else a chance today as he led and dashed clear on the turn to beat Klabel (Mark Zahra, $26) and the Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained Bridal Waltz ($5.50).

Race 8 – 4.40pm: Randwick Race 8 – Attica earns Champion status

The Joe Pride-trained Attica (Adam Hyeronimus, $4) showed an amazing turn of foot to run down Shangri La Boy (Nash Rawiller, $3.30) in a thrilling Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m).

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Shangri La Boy overraced early but still looked to have the race shot to pieces when he dashed clear inside the 200m.

Race 9 – 5pm: Moonee Valley Race 9 – Observer wins The Vase

Outstanding colt Observer looks to have next week's Group 1 Victoria Derby at his mercy after an arrogant win in the Group 2 Drummond Golf Vase (2040m).

Jockey Mark Zahra spent most of the final 200m looking at the big screen as he eased down the Ciaron Maher-trained Ghaiyyath colt – in the process giving some supporters a huge fright as the fast-finishing Providence (James McDonald, $7) got within three-quarters of a length.

Race 9 – 5.25pm: Randwick Race 9 – Stefi Magnetica wins The Invitation

The Bjorn Baker-trained Stefi Magnetica (Jason Collett, $3.90) helped punters pull off a betting coup with a scintillating victory in the $2 million Group 2 The Invitation (1400m).

Posted at $8 by the TAB when betting opened, the Doncaster winner was crunched into $3.90 second favourite by the time they jumped and she duly delivered, dashing home from midfield for a convincing victory.

Stefi Magnetica wins The Invitation, taking her career prize money to over $7 Million 👏

Race 10 – Moonee Valley Race 10 – Via Sistina wins 2025 Cox Plate.

Reigning horse of the year Via Sistina added to her amazing legacy as she secured back-to-back Cox Plates in a thrilling victory over Buckaroo in 2040 METRES RACE.

Chris Waller's champion mare won eased by eight lengths last year but it was a different story in 2025 as she was pushed to her limits by her stablemate, with the Matt Laurie-trained Treasurethe Moment third.

ONE LAST MASTERPIECE 🫡

Two for Via Sistina. Four for James McDonald. Six for Chris Waller.

The Cox Plate. There is nothing like it in sport.

Race 10 – 5:50PM G3 Powerflo Solutions Tesio Stakes (2040 METRES)
