2026 U.S. Open Field: 107 Golfers Qualified for Shinnecock Hills, 49 Spots Remain




The 2026 U.S. Open will feature a full field of 156 players at historic Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. As of June 7, 2026, 107 golfers have already secured their spots, leaving 49 positions to be filled in the coming days.The majority of remaining spots will be decided on Monday, June 8 — known as Golf’s Longest Day — during final qualifying at nine U.S. sites and one in Canada. Each site will play 36 holes, with a limited number of players advancing from each location.






Latest Additions to the 2026 U.S. Open FieldPreston Stout earned his place by winning the NCAA individual title and joins six other amateurs who must remain amateur status to compete. J.T. Poston secured his spot after his victory at the Memorial Tournament, which moved him inside the top 60 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

How Players Can Still Qualify for the 2026 U.S. Open


Beyond final qualifying, players can earn spots through these pathways:Winning multiple PGA Tour events with full FedEx Cup points since the previous U.S. Open.

Climbing into the top 60 of the Official World Golf Ranking as of the June 15, 2026 update.

Special exemptions granted by the USGA.


The final full-field update is expected shortly after the RBC Canadian Open, the last PGA Tour event before the U.S. Open.


Will Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson Play the 2026 U.S. Open?

Tiger Woods, a three-time U.S. Open champion, is not in the field. Past U.S. Open winners receive a 10-year exemption, and past winners of other majors receive five years. Woods’ most recent major victory was the 2019 Masters.Phil Mickelson will also miss the 2026 U.S. Open. Lefty has been sidelined by an undisclosed family matter and will sit out a third straight major. His last major win came at the 2021 PGA Championship.
