One of golf's biggest events of the year is less than a week away.
The Players Championship isn't a major (yet), but it's undoubtedly the PGA Tour's crown jewel and per usual, it is loaded with superstars. Defending champion Rory McIlroy and 2024 champion Scottie Scheffler are just a few of the big names in the field of 121 golfers set to tee it up at TPC Sawgrass next week with the goal of taking home the $4.5 million check and the 750 FedEx Cup points awarded to the winner.

This year’s lineup features a deep and competitive field highlighted by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, and Viktor Hovland. With the tournament offering one of the largest purses on the PGA Tour schedule and a prestigious title, The Players Championship continues to attract a stacked lineup of elite talent.
Several recent PGA Tour winners will also be in the spotlight, including Akshay Bhatia, who is coming off his dramatic playoff victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and Ludvig Åberg, one of the rising stars on Tour.
Can anyone else get into The Players Championship field 2026?
The winner of the Puerto Rico Championship, if not otherwise eligible, can get into The Players Championship. The PRO is an opposite-field concurrent with the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The entire field at the Arnold Palmer, a PGA Tour signature event at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, is already eligible for The Players, except amateur Jackson Koivun.
