High-major programs dominant the Sweet 16 of the men's NCAA Tournament bracket, with the SEC and Big Ten claiming occupying 11 of the 16 spots.

Only one double-digit seed got past the first weekend of March Madness, and it's not the typical team. Coach John Calipari and 10-seed Arkansas upset 7-seed Kansas and 2-seed St. John's to reach the second weekend, as the Hall of Fame coach beat two other Hall of Famers to set up a matchup against 3-seed Texas Tech.

The four non-SEC and Big Ten teams in the Sweet 16 were taken by four Big 12 teams (Houston, Arizona, BYU, Texas Tech) and Duke of the ACC. The year of the Power Four.
