The Reign will open their 13th National Women’s Soccer League season March 15 at Lumen Field against NJ/NY Gotham FC.
The NWSL released its full schedule Wednesday for the 14-team league. A Challenge Cup match between the defending champion Orlando Pride and Washington Spirit on March 7 will kick off the NWSL’s 2025 slate.
The reformatted competition now pits the league champion and NWSL Shield winners against each other. Orlando won both titles last year, so 2024 championship runner-up Washington will fill the slot designated for the Shield winner.
The NWSL’s regular season begins March 14. Each team will play 26 matches, 13 at home and 13 on the road. Eight teams will qualify for the playoffs, which begin with the quarterfinals Nov. 7-9. The NWSL final is scheduled for Nov. 22 at a site to be announced.
Seattle will play back-to-back road matches after its season opener. The first stop is against the North Carolina Courage on March 22, then Angel City FC on March 30. The Reign will return to host Orlando on April 12 at Lumen.
The NWSL bracketed a “rivalry weekend” for its clubs in August. The Reign will host their 42nd all-time Cascadia derby against Portland Thorns FC at Lumen on April 18. And the designated “rivalry weekend” match is Aug. 10 at Portland’s Providence Park.
The Cascadia rivalry is the nation’s longest-standing in first-division women’s soccer.
