WNBA releases schedule for Valkyries' inaugural 2025 season, Tip-off against LA Sparks
The Golden State Valkyries will play their first regular-season game May 16 at Chase Center against the Los Angeles Sparks, the team announced with its inaugural schedule release Monday.
The 44-game schedule for the 2025 season will be the longest in the history of the WNBA as the Valkyries become the league’s 13th club. The league’s 12 teams played 40 regular-season games last season.
After the L.A. game May 16, the Valkyries will host Washington on May 21 before a three-game trip that starts in Los Angeles on May 23 and finishes with two games against the defending champion New York Liberty on May 27 and May 29.
Golden State will host Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on June 19 and Aug. 31. Miramonte-Orinda alum Sabrina Ionescu and the Liberty will be at Chase Center on June 25 and Sept. 2, and Hayward’s Chelsea Gray and the Las Vegas Aces will be in San Francisco on June 7 and Aug. 6.
The Valkyries will play just two back-to-backs all season, at Washington on July 31 and then Chicago on Aug. 1, and then hosting Washington and Indiana on Aug. 30 and 31, respectively.
Their longest road trip will stretch from July 27 until Aug. 3 for five games played in eight days, starting in Connecticut, hopping to Atlanta, Washington and Chicago before ending in Las Vegas.
