Shin’s victory was more than just a paycheck — it was a long-awaited reward for years of mental resilience and dedicated work.
Jenny Shin Earns Emotional Win at Scottish Open
Starting the final round with a commanding five-shot lead, Shin extended it to eight early on. Despite a late stumble with three bogeys on the front nine, she steadied herself with a crucial par save on the 9th and a birdie on the 10th. She ultimately finished at 9-under par, two shots ahead of U.S. Women’s Open champion A Lim Kim.
“My first win didn't really feel like a win at the time. I didn't feel like I deserved it,” Shin said. “But this one definitely feels a lot different. This one feels like I earned it. I worked hard for it.”
Shin revealed she had been working with her putting coach for four years with one clear goal: win before she retires. That persistence paid off in Scotland. The victory boosts Shin’s career earnings past $8 million across 16 professional seasons.
