The DFB Pokal is the German Cup is annual football tournament, which is organized by the Deutscher Fussball-Bund, DFB- German Football Association every year.

The Rheinstadion in Düsseldorf was the first stadium to host the final in 1935. Back then, the German Cup had another name, Tschammer-Cup till 1943.



After World War II, the first tournament in the DFB was held in 1952. In the DDR the FDB-Pokal was held in 1949.

The winners of the tournament qualify for the DFL-Supercup and UEFA Europa League. The current champions of the league are Borussia Dortmund with the 5th title bagging in their court.

Bayern München is the team that has won the Cup the most since 1969 (20th time in 2020).

Werder Bremen won six times, while Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund won five times.

FC Köln and FC Schalke 04 won 4 times. Hamburger SV, Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfB Stuttgart won the Cup three times.

Granit Xhaka scored the only goal as a 10-man Bayer Leverkusen battled past second division Kaiserslautern 1-0 on Saturday to win the German Cup and secure the club’s first ever domestic double.

Leverkusen missed out on a treble after losing 3-0 to Atalanta in the Europa League final on Wednesday in their first defeat of the season after a European record 51-game unbeaten run.

This was Leverkusen’s second German Cup win after their maiden victory back in 1993.
