Joe Bidens to host UConn men's, LSU women's basketball teams at White House on May 26..
Later this month, the men's and women's NCAA basketball winners will be welcomed to the White House by President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill.
In order to win its sixth national championship, the University of Connecticut Huskies men's team defeated San Diego State 76–59 in April. By defeating the University of Iowa 102-85, the Louisiana State University Tigers women's team captured its first championship.
This year, the invitation to LSU sparked debate as the first lady suggested in a speech that the losing Iowa women's team should also attend "because they played such a good game." The White House has often exclusively invited winners in recent years.
Angel Reese, a star for LSU, tweeted a link to a report concerning Jill Biden's comments. She added the phrase "A JOKE" and three laughing-lol emojis to her message. Reese suggested that her team celebrate their victory with former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama on a podcast immediately after.
Later, in an interview with ESPN, Reese stated that she would visit the White House because she wanted to do "what's best for the team."
The both UConn, LSU basketball teams will visited date is set for May 26.
