Mitchell Hooper wins 2023 World's Strongest Man, Results

Canadian Mitchell Hooper holds off Tom Stoltman to make history, win 2023 World’s Strongest Man, prize money, winners by year.

It's an axiom that applies to the first Canadian to win the title of World's Strongest Man. As he completed with 53.5 total points throughout the six events on Sunday at the 2023 WSM Finals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Hooper established that history.

The battle ran from April 19 to 23 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and the 27-year-old's valiant victory brought it all to a thrilling conclusion. Oleksii-Novikov and Tom-Stoltman, who placed second and third, respectively, completed the podium.

Tom Stoltman of the United Kingdom, who came in second with 49 points, was denied by Hooper's victory from making it three in a row. Ukraine's Oleskii-Novikov finished third with 41 points.

Hooper, 27, placed seventh in his first World's Strongest Man competition last year. Hooper estimated that he had a fewer than 50% chance of winning it all this year.

The win made Hooper think of Jean-Francois Caron, who runs the strongman circuit in Canada and was an 11-time qualifier who last appeared at the World’s Strongest Man in 2018.
