Quinnipiac beats Minnesota in OT thriller, wins First NCAA hockey title 2023 in School history.
Jacob-Quillan scored the game-winning goal for the Bobcats 10 seconds into OT, As the Quinnipiac earned its first NCAA Division I men's hockey national championship with a stunning 3-2 comeback victory over Minnesota in overtime at Amalie-Arena in Tampa, Florida.
In the extra time, Quillan gave Quinnipiac (34-4-3) its first lead in the game after trailing for more than 50 minutes. The winning goal was provided by Quillan after Sam-Lipkin, who was on the move, received a pass from Zach-Metsa after the Bobcats won the opening faceoff in overtime.
This was the third attempt by Quinnipiac to win the national title, having lost in 2013 and 2016.
Since 2011, this was the first Frozen Four final game to go into overtime.
With 14:25 remaining in the first period, John-Mittelstadt scored from close range, and Jaxon-Nelson made it 2-0 for Minnesota (29-10-1) by redirecting a Brock-Faber shot that had hit the wall into the net about five minutes into the second.
The Bobcats outshot Minnesota 30-15 and had a 34-23 advantage in faceoffs won.

Michigan has the most NCAA Division I men's college hockey championships, with nine. Its last one came in 1998.
Denver and North Dakota have eight each. The Pioneers can pull into a tie with Michigan in 2022.
Wisconsin has six and Boston College, Boston University and Minnesota have five each. The Golden Gophers are aiming to pull into a tie for fourth on the list.
Minnesota State has never won a national championship.
