All 14 league teams advance to the conference final; seeds 11 through 14 play in the opening round, while seeds 5 through 10 receive a bye in that round. The top four seeds advance directly to the quarterfinals with a two-round bye.

The conference champion from the Sun Belt will most likely be the only team to represent the conference in the NCAA Tournament. If the Southern Miss Golden Eagles do not win the Sun Belt tournament, they will automatically receive a bid to the NIT as the No. 1 seed and regular-season champions.
