2026 Presidents Cup: Dates, Schedule, Venue, Format, Captains and Team Standings
The 2026 Presidents Cup is set to bring the United States and the International team together for another major week of team golf.
The biennial event features the best eligible American players against an International team made up of golfers from around the world, excluding Europe.
The 16th Presidents Cup will be played at Medinah Country Club in Illinois from September 22 through September 27, 2026.
The United States enters the event seeking an 11th consecutive victory. The Americans defeated the International team 18½-11½ in Montreal in 2024.
Team International has won the Presidents Cup only once, in 1998. The 2003 edition ended in a tie.
After the United States struggled at the 2025 Ryder Cup, Team International will look to take advantage of the opportunity and challenge the Americans at one of golf's most historic venues.
2026 Presidents Cup Dates and Schedule
The 2026 Presidents Cup runs from September 22 through September 27 at Medinah Country Club, with the main competition beginning Thursday, September 24.
The event schedule includes practice rounds, team match play and Sunday's singles competition.
Sunday, September 20 to Monday, September 21: Practice rounds and Junior Presidents Cup
Tuesday, September 22 to Wednesday, September 23: Practice rounds with general spectator access
Thursday, September 24: Day 1, opening ceremony and five Four-ball or Foursomes matches
Friday, September 25: Day 2, five team matches featuring Foursomes or Four-ball
Saturday, September 26: Day 3, morning Four-ball matches and afternoon Foursomes matches
Sunday, September 27: Day 4, 12 Singles matches and closing trophy ceremony
2026 Presidents Cup Match Play Format
The Presidents Cup follows a four-day match-play format.
The 2026 competition is expected to follow the structure used in 2024.
Thursday features five Four-ball matches.
Friday features five Foursomes matches.
Saturday features eight team matches, with four Four-ball matches in the morning followed by four Foursomes matches in the afternoon.
Sunday concludes the competition with 12 Singles matches.
A total of 30 points are available across the four days.
A team needs 15½ points to win the Presidents Cup.
2026 Presidents Cup Venue: Medinah Country Club
Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, will host the 2026 Presidents Cup.
The competition will take place on Course No. 3, one of the most recognizable layouts in American golf.
Medinah previously hosted the 2012 Ryder Cup, which became famous as the "Miracle at Medinah" after Europe produced a dramatic comeback on the final day.
Course No. 3 is a par-72 layout measuring approximately 7,564 yards.
Several holes play around Lake Kadijah, adding another strategic challenge for players throughout the week.
Recent renovations have included larger greens, more complex bunkering, wider fairways and extensive areas of long fescue rough.
Medinah has also hosted three U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships and the 2019 BMW Championship.
2026 Presidents Cup Captains
United States: Brandt Snedeker will captain the United States team.
Team International: Geoff Ogilvy will lead Team International.
Snedeker is a former FedExCup champion who won the Myrtle Beach Classic in May. He was also a member of the U.S. team at the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah.
Ogilvy is a former U.S. Open champion who won the 2006 championship and collected three World Golf Championship titles. He also made four Presidents Cup appearances as a player.
2026 U.S. Presidents Cup Team
The U.S. team consists of six automatic qualifiers and six captain's picks.
The six automatic qualifiers were confirmed following the BMW Championship.

Wyndham Clark
Sam Burns
Russell Henley
Collin Morikawa
Several players remain in contention for the six captain's picks.
Among the leading candidates are Chris Gotterup, Ben Griffin, Xander Schauffele and J.J. Spaun.
Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Akshay Bhatia and Jordan Spieth are also potential selections.
2026 International Presidents Cup Team
Team International will also feature six automatic qualifiers and six captain's picks.
Si Woo Kim and 2026 Open champion Ryan Fox are among the players expected to play important roles.
Hideki Matsuyama, Min Woo Lee and Tom Kim bring recent Presidents Cup experience and international team quality.
Veterans Adam Scott, Corey Conners and Jason Day also provide significant experience.
Other players in contention include Nico Echavarria, Casey Jarvis, Ryo Hisatsune, Nick Taylor, Sungjae Im and Aldrich Potgieter.
LIV Golf Players Ineligible for 2026 Presidents Cup
LIV Golf players are not eligible for the Presidents Cup because the event is organized by the PGA Tour.
That means several high-profile players will be unavailable for their respective teams.
Bryson DeChambeau cannot represent the United States.
Team International will also be without several prominent players, including Lucas Herbert, Cameron Smith, Louis Oosthuizen, JoaquÃn Niemann and Carlos Ortiz.
Their absence could have a significant impact on the depth of both teams.
When Will the 2026 Presidents Cup Teams Be Finalized?
The final 12-man rosters are scheduled to be completed after the captains announce their six selections.
Brandt Snedeker and Geoff Ogilvy are scheduled to announce their captain's picks on Tuesday, September 1.
Those selections will complete the U.S. and International rosters ahead of the competition at Medinah.
2026 Presidents Cup Team Standings
The United States enters the 2026 Presidents Cup as the defending champion and has won the competition 10 consecutive times.
The Americans defeated Team International 18½-11½ in the 2024 Presidents Cup in Montreal.
Team International's only outright Presidents Cup victory came in 1998.
The International team also earned a tie in 2003, but the United States has otherwise dominated the competition.
