Pelicans' Jose Alvarado Wins MVP, Leads Team Pau to Win in 2023 Jordan Rising Stars, Past winners, history.
Fittingly, it was a 3-pointer that decided the Jordan Rising Stars championship Friday at Vivint Arena.
Team Pau defeated Team Joakim 25-20 thanks to a 3-pointer from NewOrleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado from the right wing. The third 3-pointer to bring a game up to the desired point total was Alvarado's shot. A made 3-pointer was also the winning shot in the earlier semifinal games of the evening.
The first day of All-Star Weekend was concluded by Team Pau winning the tournament at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, and New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado was named the NBA Jordan Rising Stars MVP.
Alvarado scored 13 points in the semifinal contest, which helped Team Pau defeat Team Deron 40-25 with ease. Then, in the championship game against Team Joakim, he made the game-winning three-pointer (which he had called earlier).

Four teams competed in the tournament under the direction of former NBA stars Pau Gasol, Deron Williams, Joakim Noah, and Jason Terry. Noah, Gasol, and Williams were the top rookies and sophomores.
Scoot Henderson, a highly anticipated prospect for the 2023 NBA Draft, played for Terry's G League squad. In the semifinal match, Team Jason lost to Team Joakim 40–32.
None of these matches had a set time limit; the semifinals went up to 40 points, and the final stopped at 25 points.
