LAFC Becomes First MLS Franchise at $1 Billion Valued

Los Angeles FC Tops Forbes List of MLS Team Values having 1st Billion Dollar Franchise Worth..







Los Angeles Football Club, the defending MLS Cup champions, became the first Major League Soccer team to be valued at $1 billion on Wednesday when Forbes released its most recent evaluation of North American soccer teams.



LAFC's value was $475 million in 2019, which was the most recent year that Forbes evaluated soccer teams in North America.

LAFC’s intercity rivals, the Galaxy, are the league’s second-most valuable team at $925 million. Atlanta United FC comes in at No. 3 at $850 million, followed by New York City FC at $800 million.



LAFC was established in 2014, and it paid an expansion fee of $110 million to join MLS. Since Forbes' previous valuation of the team in 2019, the team's worth has more than doubled.

Over the past ten years, MLS has expanded by 11 teams and is likely to add a 30th team in either Las Vegas or San Diego with a expansion fee around $500 million.
