Not-Hit game Astros level series against Phillies in World Series history

World Series 2022: No-hitter helps Houston Astros beat Philadelphia Phillies 5-0 to level series at 2-2.

The Houston Astros threw only the second no-hitter in World Series history as they beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-0 in game four to level the MLB Series.

The Astros blanked Philadelphia 5-0 on Wednesday night to tie the series at two games each after Javier and the Astros bullpen combined for just the second no-hitter in World Series history.

Additionally, they had done this before: this time, after six innings and 97 pitches, Javier, the starter in a combined no-hitter against the New York Yankees in June, was removed while a no-hitter was still in progress.

The first combined no-hitter in postseason play was produced by Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero, and Pressly, who each pitched a hitless inning after that. This year's championship will be decided this weekend at Minute Maid Park thanks to the Astros' 14 strikeouts and 3 walks.

The only previous no-hitter in the World Series was a perfect game by Don Larsen of the New York Yankees against the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1956.

What's Next in 2022 MLB World Series Schedule.?

  • Astros:   Verlander is 0-6 with a 6.07 ERA in eight World Series starts after failing to hold a five-run lead in the opener.

  • Phillies:   RHP Syndergaard had been set to start Game 3 before it was washed out Monday night. He’ll now open a bullpen game.
