Joey Logano wins NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Las Vegas

Joey Logano beats Chastain to wins 222 NASCAR Cup playoff race at Las Vegas, clinches Championship 4 birth. 




Team Penske’s Joey Logano became the first driver to clinched a spot in the Championship 4 with a shot at the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series championship thanks to a valiant surge to victory in the final laps of Sunday’s South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.


Logano holds off Leader Ross Chastain, with three laps to go and led the rest of the way. He won by .817 of a second.


Team Penske crowns the 2022 IndyCar championship winners last month when driver Will Power won his second Indycar title.


Logano, who won for the third time this season and third time at Las Vegas, 
is NASCAR’s 2018 champion and advanced to the championship race for the fifth time in his career.

Logano made a last-minute pit stop for fresh tyres in the hopes that the Goodyears would help him out.

 On the last restart with 16 laps left, his Ford was still in seventh place despite his rapid gain of six positions.


Ross Chastain overtook Chase Briscoe for the lead on the restart, followed by Justin Haley and then himself.

 Chastain did this by making a wide-ranging three-wide manoeuvre at the bottom of the circuit. 

Logano sprinted across the field, but Chastain was able to stop him with a number of blocks.
