World Series 2022: Houston Astros beat Philadelphia Phillies 5-2 in game two to level series at 1-1.






Starting pitcher Framber Valdez starred as the Houston Astros beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-2 to level the best-of-seven World Series at 1-1.



Houston suffered their first postseason loss after blowing a commanding 5-0 lead in the first game of the best-of-seven Major League Baseball championship series. The tenacious Phillies team again put Houston to the test.


A throwing error by Phillies shortstop Edmundo Sosa on a routine ground ball with two outs gave the Astros another run before the first inning was over. The Astros had started the game with three straight doubles for a 2-0 lead.



It was the first time ever in World Series history that a team opened a game with three straight extra-base hits.

Third baseman Alex Bregman's two-run home run to left centre field in the bottom of the fifth inning gave Houston a 5-0 advantage.

RHP Noah Syndergaard will start Game 3 for the Phillies and RHP Lance McCullers Jr. for the Astros. Phillies LHP Ranger Suárez will take the mound for Game 4, and likely LHP Cristian Javier for Houston.
