These four U.S. states collectively account for more than a quarter of the 498 active NBA players, led by superstars like Joel Embiid of The Rock (Gainesville, Fla.), Kawhi Leonard of King (Riverside, Calif.), Jimmy Butler of Tomball (Texas), and Anthony Davis of Perspectives Charter (Chicago).
Florida led the way with 44 former players still playing in the league, while 43 were California high school athletes. Texas placed third with 25 athletes, followed by Illinois in fourth place with 23 players who were about to begin their seasons.
North Carolina (20), Indiana (18), Georgia (16) and Pennsylvania (16) all these states had at least 15 players.
