Pakistan's World Cup hopes suffered further damage with a shock one-run defeat by Zimbabwe in Perth.



Zimbabwe Skipper, Greg Irvine, won the toss and decided to bat first in the match that was played in Perth.

Zimbabwe scored 42 runs in the first two innings, which were started by Craig Irvine and Wesley Madhevir. While Irvine played a 19-run innings, Wesley Madhevir was dismissed for 17 runs. 

Milton Shamba was caught by Shadab Khan on his own ball for an individual score of 8.

Shadab Khan then bowled Sean Williams for 31 runs in the fourteenth over, and Regus Chaka Bua was also caught by Babar Azam in the slips on the very next delivery. 3 players were dismissed by Shadab Khan after he scored 23 runs in 4 overs.

Mohammad Wasim Jr gave 24 runs in 4 overs and took 4 wickets by showing excellent bowling.


Pakistan suffer 2nd straight damage, first outing against India also ending in a tense defeat.

Unfortunately, Pakistan dropped to 36-3 after losing its openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan early before a partnership of 52 runs between Shan and Shadab rebuilt the chase.

However, after Shadab and Haider Ali were bowled by Raza in back-to-back deliveries, Zimbabwe regained the initiative.

Prior to being dismissed for 44 by spinner Sikandar Raza, who claimed 3-25, Shan Masood appeared to be leading Pakistan out of danger.


In a tumultuous conclusion, seamers Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava bowled with good control towards the end until Mohammad Nawaz's six and four-ball blast tipped the balance back in Pakistan's favour.

 At the End, Brad Evens ended Pakistan hopes for the victory when he caught M.Nawaz at Mid-off.
